Description

Anytime an animal is netted, there is the possibility of a very valuable, priceless animal being traumatized, seriously injured, or killed during the process. Many exotic species are susceptible to handling problems for numerous reasons (i.e. temperament, speed, agility, strength, frailty, etc.). We know that it is necessary sometimes to capture these animals (so you can vaccinate or treat an illness). Suspension nets are the right equipment to do the job quickly – to reduce stress – and to minimize the chance of injury to the animal and the handler.

Suspension Nets

Our suspension nets are designed to be safe, light, strong, and versatile. We have adopted a modular-style net system to allow you, our customer, to design the net system you need for your application. Every net is built to give you long-lasting wear (within the limits we explain with each modular part).

We offer a very wide selection to choose from, but we can customize it to your specifications. We have three different suspension types, in five rod sizes. We have five mesh materials to choose from, in four colors. We have three types of handles in differing lengths. We have hollow double-shafted fiberglass handles and extension handles.

We sew our nets with heavy thread that will stretch with the net material. The thread we use is rated one of the best in the industry. Your seams will not be the weakest link.

We have been listening to your needs. We have added an additional option to pad the suspension to further protect the delicate wings of birds while maintaining the strength you come to expect with our net systems. Please contact us directly for any customizations that may not be available in the listing.

Suspensions

We have four suspension styles to choose from. We offer all suspension styles in all size circumferences. There is no difference in price for the different-shaped suspensions of the same size and thickness polycarbonate.

We use strong and flexible Lexan polycarbonate plastic rod to create our suspensions.

We offer these suspensions in a variety of thickness to match your application. Our net suspensions are made of Lexan polycarbonate, has 16000 psi tensile strength and 19000 psi flexural strength.

Choosing Suspension Shapes

Hoop Shape – The traditional net

ADVANTAGES
– Maximum opening for a given circumference.
– Best shape for open ground/tree flight capture.

DISADVANTAGES
– Will not fit into corners.
– Difficult to use in small cages.

Pentagram Shape – Best shape for cages

ADVANTAGES
– Completely fits into corners and block angles.
– Completely covers doors of different sizes.
– Can be used to block a charging animal.

DISADVANTAGES
– May snag or catch when swung parallel to the ground.

Ogive Shape – Best multipurpose net

ADVANTAGES
– Completely covers doors of different sizes.
– Can be fit into corners.
– Easier capture of larger animals with smaller nets.
– Sides bulge to absorb impact force – can block charging animals.
– Reduce the chance of snagging the net.

DISADVANTAGES
– Not as effective in corners as the Penta.
– Not as wide an opening as the Hoop.

V Shape – Best net for delicate or ground bound animals as well as multiple captures

ADVANTAGES
– Allows net to be pulled off with animal inside (makes rapid capture of multiple animals possible)
– Tension supported front edge of net will not cause impact injury
– Wands move independently, which allows it to conform to surfaces
– Can be dismantled into tight storage for transportation

DISADVANTAGES
– Primates or dextrous animals can lift tension support in front edge and crawl under
– Small-headed animals can scramble under the front edge
– Wear on net is faster – we recommend getting an additional hem
– Suspension flexibility can make animals difficult to control

Choosing Suspension Polycarbonate Rod Diameter

We offer these suspensions in a variety of thicknesses to match your needs. The diameter of the polycarbonate rod is chosen based on thickness, so knowing the weight of the animal, choose the corresponding size. The more delicate the animal, choose a smaller rod. The more difficult and strong, or higher the weight of the animal, use a larger rod.

Choosing Suspension Circumference

Choose the circumference size based on the size of the animal you wish to capture. Inside diameter dimensions are given below for our different suspensions. Outside dimensions would be the Inside dimension + (2*rod size)
